U.S. EMBASSY VEHICLE SEALED-BID SALE
June 05,06,08, 2026
The Embassy of the United States of America, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, will hold a Government Vehicle closed bid sale on June 05, 06, 08, 2026 at the U.S. Embassy front parking lot on Entoto Road. The list includes SUV’s, Pick-up Trucks, Sedans, Water trucks.
Viewing & Bidding: Interested participants can view the vehicles for sale and submit their Bid on:
- Friday June 05,2026 between 13:30-16:30.
- Saturday June 06.2026 between 09:30-16:30.
- Monday June 08 .2026 between 09:30-16:30.
Bid submission only, viewing will not be authorized (Location Embassy Back Door)
To access the facility, participants will be required to present Photo ID and certified payment order (CPO) of ETB 100,000.00.
Bid Bond: Interested participants must bring a certified payment order (CPO) of ETB 100,000.00 to view and participate in the auction. (This bid bond will serve for all vehicles included in the auction). The CPO should be made payable to “Bank of Abyssinia”. The CPO must be presented at the time of vehicle viewing. Winning bidders must pay for all lots won in full, less the bid bond which will be held. If you are the winner of multiple vehicles, you must pay for all vehicles, in full, or you will forfeit your bid bond and you will not be allowed to take a single vehicle.
Winners who forfeit winning bids will be barred from U.S. Embassy vehicle auctions for three years.
Bid Documents: The Embassy will provide bid documents/forms and bids will be accepted on June 05, 06 and 08, 2026. Bidders shall fill the bid form in a very legible manner by avoiding overwriting and any sort of ambiguity. ILLEGIBLE BIDS WILL BE REJECTED.
Full Payment: winners will be contacted on Thursday June 11.2026 and must pay the full amount of the winning bid to: A/C NO. ETB1502100010050 of Bank of Abyssinia and submit the deposit slip(s) to the Embassy within five working days or forfeit their cashier’s cheque(s). Partial payments are not allowed. Bidders not contacted can collect their CPO on the Bid Bond return date.
Responsibility and removal of vehicle(s): Bid winners will be able to remove their vehicle(s) only after full payment and completion of the necessary documentation and paperwork. Vehicles will be released after presentation by the winner of all tax payments/exemptions (Finalizing all Tax Processes). The US Embassy will not assume any responsibility for vehicles sold after fulfilling necessary documentation and paperwork. Failure to remove vehicle(s) as per the terms and conditions provided may result in a fine for storage.
If the buyer is obligated to pay taxes on the vehicle, the U.S. Embassy will deliver all necessary tax documentation to the buyer, who must complete payment of all applicable taxes within two months.
Should the buyer fail to pay the applicable taxes within the agreed time, the buyer will forfeit the vehicle and all payments made. The U.S. Embassy will not assume any responsibility for vehicles after release to the buyer.
Bid Bond Return: Non-winning bidders can collect their cashier’s cheques (CPO) from June 15-17,2026 from 09:00-12:00 at the Embassy back gate. The U.S. Embassy will not take any responsibility for CPO’s not collected on time.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Participants must be at least 18 years old and bring proper identification (passport/ID).
- All bidders must provide personal transportation for their purchases: the Embassy will have no transportation available.
- Any and all duties, taxes, transfer fees or other charges of an official nature that may be levied by the Government of Ethiopia are the sole responsibility of the buyer and will not be deducted or credited to the sale price by the U.S. Embassy.
- All vehicles are sold on an “AS IS”, “WHERE IS” and “NON- RETURNABLE” basis. The Embassy DOES NOT guarantee any items in any way.
- In case of failure to fulfill all requirements stated above, the Embassy will reserve all rights to cancel bids and take related administrative measures including forfeiture of cashier’s cheques as necessary.
- U.S. Government reserves the right to withdraw for its use any or all the vehicles prior to actual removal of the property from U.S. Government control.
- U.S. Government reserves the right to reject any bid that is considered not to be appropriate with the value of the property or to reject any bid where there is evidence of connivance. collusion, or bribery
